The first batch of MSc Freshwater Ecology and Conservation (2024-2026), a pioneering course to understand the nuances of freshwater ecosystems, was initiated. The course is sponsored by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India under its Namami Gange Programme. The course aims to develop a cadre of freshwater ecologist and biologist, for managing the freshwater resources and its biodiversity in India. Meritorious students will gain knowledge on the concepts, principles, approaches, analytical skills and field techniques in Freshwater Ecology and Conservation from eminent scientists and field practitioners in freshwater ecology. The application process for the first batch began on 1st March 2024 and the course began from 1st August 2024, with sixteen students.
